<p>Brink Notes Podcast Network (BNCAST) was awarded as the best podcast blog during the 2011 Philippine Blog Awards awarding ceremony held at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium in RCBC Plaza, Makati City, Philippines.</p>
<p>BNCAST founder Jeric Peña received the award.</p>
<p>&#8220;I share this award with Filipino podcasters who help keep the Philippine podcasting scene alive. Podcasting is not dead,&#8221; Jeric Peña said in his acceptance speech. He also thanked the people behind the Philippine Blog Awards for giving him this award.</p>
<p>In 2009, Brink Notes Entertainment Daily Podcast, one of the podcast shows produced by BNCAST, was also awarded by Philippine Blog Awards as best podcast blog.</p>
<p>Philippine Blog Awards is an annual event that recognizes outstanding blogs in the Philippine blogosphere.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p></p><p>In order to meet the Education for All 2015 goals, the Philippine Department of Education is making pre-school education (kindergarten) mandatory for five-year old children beginning this June. In this episode, the implementation of the universal kindergarten in the Philippines was discussed in detail. The different laws pertaining to pre-school education were also discussed alongside with the different problems that the government is facing with regards to the implementation of the universal kindergarten.</p>

<h2><span style="font-size: 13px; font-weight: normal;">Most people see summer classes as the term for delinquent students to retake courses they have failed during the previous terms, however this is not always the case. In fact, thinking that summer classes are only for delinquent students is an OLD belief. Nowadays, more college students are beginning to prefer taking summer classes over time at the beach, which is actually a great thing.</span></h2>
<h2>Why should you take summer classes?</h2>
<p>There are many reasons why a college student takes summer classes. Here are some of the reasons:</p>
<ol>
<li>Summer classes allow students to take advance credit or extra credit.</li>
<li>Summer classes allow students to make the most out of their vacations by being productive.</li>
<li>Taking summer classes allows students to have lighter academic load in the succeeding terms.</li>
<li>It allows students to earn their degrees earlier (or on time).</li>
<li>It is a great opportunity for students to catch up with school, especially those who change majors or are taking double majors.</li>
</ol>
<h2>Why should you not take summer classes?</h2>
<p>There are many reasons why a college student chooses not to summer classes. Here are some of the reasons:</p>
<ol>
<li>While the summer term is shorter than the regular semesters, meetings for each day are usually longer and are more often.</li>
<li>The summer term can be very hectic for some.</li>
<li>Some professors are quite demanding in terms of giving course requirements.</li>
<li>Information overload.</li>
<li>There is always a tendency for students to feel &#8216;burnout&#8217;.</li>
<li>Less time (to no time at all) for summer escapades.</li>
</ol>

<p>After a few weeks of talking about tips and tricks on how to become better students of today, let&#8217;s now talk about timely issues concerning the educational system, specifically about the issues in public education.</p>
<p><em><strong>Waiting for Superman </strong></em>is a documentary film released in September 2010 directed by Davis Guggenheim, who is also the director the documentary film <em>The Inconvenient Truth</em>. <em><strong>Waiting for Superman </strong></em>followed the story of five children in the US and their families who are in the search for quality education. The film revealed how American public schools are failing America for producing graduates that are not proficient readers and that are not even qualified for admission to four-year colleges. The film also discussed the issue of incompetent or underperforming teachers and teacher unions.</p>
<p>This episode of EDUC Today discussed the documentary film <em><strong>Waiting for Superman</strong></em> and the similarities between the problems encountered in the American public schools and Philippine public schools.</p>
